Zag Zig (not Zig Zag) - A simple turn leads to hundreds of combinations
Last month we introduced the Zag Zig Collection. Now, many of you know that we have designed and manufactured well over 100 different mosaic patterns, but our Zag Zig Collection is a product that is in a class by itself. The idea came when we wanted to create a product line that could be installed in limitless different ways merely by turning each piece to create various patterns. Although we are known for creating unique mosaic patterns, in essence all mosaics are alike. Although sizes, colors, quality and finishes may change, at the end of the day, an octagon mosaic is an octagon mosaic. The Zag Zig mosaic tile (which by definition is neither a mosaic or a tile), has been designed, patented and manufactured to create hundreds of different installation possibilities to create a look that is uniquely its own, simply by rotating the individual tile to create hundreds of patterns. We could try to explain it in ten different ways, but as the say, a picture is worth....... Let us know what you think....

Shadowbox Mosaic - Inspired by a popular 80's video game?
This year, along with about other 15 new mosaic patterns, we launched the Shadowbox Mosaic. Now, we won't mention any names, but many of our customers suggest that this pattern holds a very close resemblance to a true 80's video game icon. Although Q-Bert was not our direct inspiration for this pattern, we still hold this great game to the highest standard in video game history. Who says that art doesn't imitate video games. Keep on gaming !!!

Needless to say, the Shadowbox mosaic is a simple and distinguished way of adding a unique look to any wall or floor. It also looks great as a mosaic rug or shower niche. Below is an application picture of our Shadowbox mosaic in Emperador Brown, Botticino and Emperador Brown Light.

Featured in Contemporary Stone & Tile Magazine
Our Kiwaju Collection, was featured in the article, "A broader scope of mosaic design" in Contemporary Stone & Tile Design Magazine, written by Alexis Fisher. Here is a small part of the article pertaining to our Kiwaju Collection:
Besides the residential sector, mosaics have also taken a prominent place for applications in corporate settings. For a recent corporate project in Pittsburgh, PA, mosaics played an essential part of the design for two executive restrooms, as they were used as flooring. A variety of colors were selected from Mosaico Italiano of Pompano Beach, FL, to suit the owner’s desires, and the remainder of the bathroom was designed around the floor. “[The idea was] to mimic colors from India that the owners fell in love with on their travels,” said Tina Krashna of Ceramiche Tile & Stone, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA, which served as a designer for the project, working in collaboration with Bethany Demi of Lami Grubb Architects in Pittsburgh, PA.
“The overall design concept was formed and developed based on this flooring,” Demi added. “The owners enjoy traveling to India and have a passion and love for that country. They also have an appreciation for the beauty and art of that area. This project was our effort to bring that look and feel into this space. As soon as the owner saw this floor, he loved it and felt it captured that look for his space.”Honey, Green and Copper Red onyx mosaics in a “fish-scale” pattern were selected for the floor of the 225-square -foot executive restroom spaces. Krashna explained that the only challenges came in selecting the materials. “There’s too many options available with a custom mosaic factory such as Mosaico Italiano,” she said.
